The last issue of Wargames, Soldiers and Strategy I read, possibly the current issue had some rules for using the Saga ruleset in colonial games. This inspired me to dig out some Pygmy models I have had for ages but never used.

Has anyone used this rule set? Is so how did it work?

A lot of my pygmies have bows which arent allowed for in the WSS rules, but that shouldn't be two difficult to overcome by refering back to the original rules.

The standard Saga rules are played by several players at the Plymouth club, including me. They are lots of fun and every game is different. There are lots of tactical challenges in this rule set which are not apparent on first reading. Little changes can make a big difference to how a force works. The dice allocation on the battle boards is a very important part of the game and can really affect the outcome of each turn of combat. Well worth the investment.

Haven't tried the ones in WSS yet but they look like a good set. Will try them out soon.

Though my ships may rest at anchor, the big guns never sleep.

For a basic review of the Saga rules, I did one on my blog: http://daleswargames.blogspot.com/2012/12/...est-battle.html

I am adapting them for Mesoamerica, so I can make use of my Aztec collection: http://daleswargames.blogspot.com/2012/12/...esoamerica.html and http://daleswargames.blogspot.com/2012/12/...tle-report.html

I may someday get around to using it for African tribal warfare, and put my plastic 28mm Zulus to some use.
