Just finished painting up my first four empress modern British infantry. I decided to go for a standard green DPM as I want to use these guys for different things and I think at a push you can get away with greens in the desert but not deserts in Europe.

Looking good to me too. Mind you standard DPM is already going out the door as the new Multicam issue kit rolls out to all units i think by next year and DPM is finally withdrawn. Therefore as long as your game is 2011 and earlier you are fine and safe from the "I think you will find...." Brigade.

Cheers mate, I'm happy as long as it looks like cammo, pattern thats something for knitting isnt it!

If anyone ever picks me up on uniform I'll just get out my WW2 British Infantry that I painted up in Anglo/Zulu war colours just for the hell of it (they don't make it onto the table very often) I imagine the uniform brigade would have a heart attack if I ever got them out for a serious game.

Very lovely.

Ive wanted to pick up that range for quite some time.

As for uniforms:
During the initial Gulf War, for the Americans anyways (not sure if it was the same for you chaps), when troops were deployed in their Green BDUs, Saddams troops thought they were an elite force because they did not wear the desert camoflage. In reality, there just wasnt enough produced to give to all units, and many were deployed so quickly they couldnt get ahold of them.
This "pseudo-psychological warfare" helped several units, as they used it as "chest thumping" to scare the Iraqis. (They're sending in the green uniformed troops...must be going to get our butts kicked for sure!! Run!!!)

Pretty much the same with our guys here. Gulf War one was a mix and match sort of thing clothing wise. We didn't have any Desert NBC suits available and of course some had MKIIIs (Green) and some had IVs (DPM). Respirators where a mix of S6s and S10s. Good kit none the less and certainly better than that awful US Respirator hood.
In the green zone those old and bold enough to still have them kicking about, had their old Jungle DPM dug out from the loft and sent out so they can blend in against the greenery. Those not lucky enough to have sets had been tye dying their desert kit green prior to the Multicam rolling out.
